YouTube series about believing Paul's Epistle to the Romans May 21, 2025 |
It's been a long time since I sent a newsletter. I read and learn from the early church fathers, but when I teach, I am generally teaching evangelicals (which basically means those who consider themselves born again by faith). I consider myself an evangelical as well. Thus, while I learn from Christian history, I teach almost exclusively from the Scriptures. I have created a series of Bible studies on Romans. I did this because most evangelical teachers begin their study of Romans by teaching that Romans 2:6-8 does not mean what he says. If you don't believe me, go to YouTube and search "Romans 2:6." You cannot accurately interpret any author by ignoring what he says and twisting his words to mean what you want them to mean. Thus, Romans is one of the most confusing books for evangelicals. It does not have to be. If we simply believe Romans 2:6-8, then we can see that Romans chapters 3-6 are a beautiful explanation of how God has prepared us for the judgment mentioned in Romans 2. Part 4 went up on YouTube this morning. It is the most controversial of the series, but that is only because so few of us actually believe what Paul says in Romans 2. If it helps any, John Piper is another who takes Paul at his word in that passage. Of course, at one time, all Christians took Paul at his word and constantly reminded each other that there is a judgment in front of us that we must face (e.g. 1 Pet. 1:17; Matt. 25:31-46; 2 Pet. 1:10-11; see also https://www.christian-history.org/faith-versus-works-quotes.html) You can find the series by searching "Pavao Romans" on YouTube. I will try to keep the rest of the series coming at least once per week. |
